A logo fails for one of two reasons: the wrong method for the material, or artwork that does not survive being reduced to the print area available. Logo and imprints can be printed on the products by silkscreen printing or other ways, including offset printing, embroidery, laser, engraving, stamping press and heat transfer. Picking between them is the part worth getting right before artwork is signed off.
How It Runs
Start from the substrate
ABS, coated metal, textile, silicone and paperboard each rule some methods in and others out.
Check the print area
Curved and textured surfaces reduce the usable area. Fine detail and thin strokes are the first things to disappear.
Pick the method
Silkscreen and offset for flat printed marks, embroidery for textile, laser and engraving for a permanent mark on metal, stamping press for a raised or recessed mark, heat transfer for full-colour on awkward shapes.
Prove it on a sample
The decorated sample is approved before mass production, so placement and colour are settled physically.
Hold it across the run
Placement and colour are part of the specification the order is inspected against.
