Most apparel programmes fail at a specific stage, and it is usually not the sewing. It is a fabric approved verbally, a colour approved on a screen, or a comment on a sample that nobody wrote down. This is the sequence this factory runs, and what each stage exists to prevent.
Custom Activewear Development In 8 Steps
Brief
A description of a fabric is not a fabric, and two people reading the same words picture different garments.
Send a reference garment or a tech pack. The sourcing team and the technical team work from the physical object wherever one exists.
Fabric development
Fabric decides hand feel, price and lead time, and changing it later restarts everything downstream.
The sourcing team presents fabric options, including sustainable qualities on request, from mills near the Yiwu factory.
Sampling
A sample that comes back wrong twice is usually a sample whose comments were never recorded properly.
Samples take about one to two weeks. Every written comment is checked one by one on the next round.
Fit and grading
A good sample in one size tells you nothing about the run.
The technical team corrects the fit and the outlook and grades to the brand's own size chart before bulk.
Colour approval
Colour is the most common reason a shipment is rejected at retail.
A lab dip is approved against a physical standard before the bulk fabric is dyed.
Production
Split orders across factories and nothing matches.
Knitting, sewing, finishing and packing all happen at the same Yiwu site, which employs over 300 people.
Labelling and packing
Labels and packing decided at the end become the reason a shipment waits at the port.
Neck labels, care labels, hang tags and polybags are produced to the brand's own artwork as part of the order.
Shipment
A delivery date agreed in conversation is not a plan.
Delivery planning is confirmed in writing against the confirmed quantity and destination.
