Seamless Versus Cut and Sew Activewear

What seamless actually means

The body comes off a circular knitting machine as a shaped tube. Shaping, ribbing, support zones and mesh are knitted in as part of the programme rather than cut from panel goods and stitched.

What the wearer notices

No side seam on the body, so nothing rubs under a waistband or a pack strap, and no seam line shows through light fabric in photography. That is the whole argument for seamless in studio and gym wear.

What the buyer notices

Compression repeats, because the same knitting programme runs on every piece. On cut and sew, consistency depends on the cutting and the sewing being equally consistent.

Where cut and sew still wins

Structured garments: jackets with linings and insulation, cargo pockets, corduroy shells, heavyweight hoodies with applied washes. None of that is knitted in one piece.

What it does to the minimum

Seamless starts at 300 pieces per colour against 200 for cut and sew, because the machine is set up per programme. A range that mixes both carries both minimums.
