Inspecting a Stone Shipment Before It Loads
Check the material against the order not against the sample
A sample shows a body, not a batch. Ask for photographs of the actual bundles reserved for your order and compare them with the slab numbers on the packing list.
Look for cracks resin and fill
Resined slabs are normal in many marble bodies. What matters is whether the fill is disclosed and whether cracks were repaired or hidden.
Check thickness and finish on the finished material
Measure after polishing. A slab quoted at 18mm and delivered at 16mm changes how a fabricator edges it.
Check the crates not just the stone
Confirm the crates are seaworthy wooden crates, that bundles are braced and that marking matches your unloading plan.
