Caring for Marble Bathtubs and Vanity Tops
Seal it and then reseal it
Marble is porous. A penetrating sealer slows absorption and buys time to wipe a spill, but it wears, so resealing is part of owning the surface.
Keep acids away from the stone
Limescale removers, vinegar, citrus cleaners and many bathroom sprays etch marble. Use a pH-neutral stone cleaner instead.
Wipe standing water on tubs
A solid stone bathtub holds cosmetics, oils and hard water minerals in the same way a vanity top does. Rinsing and drying after use prevents most marks.
Repairing dull patches
Light etching can be polished out by a stone restorer. Deep marks need refinishing, which is why honed surfaces are often chosen for heavily used bathrooms.
