How Stone Slabs Are Packed for Ocean Freight
Why packing is a stone question not a logistics question
A crate that works for a light product fails under stone. Slab bundles are heavy and the load shifts on a long passage, so the crate has to be built for the weight it carries.
Seaworthy wooden crates
Our export packing is seaworthy professional wooden crates. Slabs stand on edge, are separated and are braced so the bundle moves as one piece rather than as loose slabs.
Carved pieces need different bracing
A bathtub, a fireplace surround or a carved figure has projecting parts. Those are blocked separately, because a brace that suits a flat bundle does nothing for a carved extremity.
What to ask for before loading
Ask for photographs of the crated material and for crate marking that matches your unloading sequence. Both cost nothing and prevent most arrival problems.
