Aluminium Carries the Heat

The LED board sits against the aluminium body. Aluminium conducts heat away from the diodes, and diode life is largely a function of junction temperature. A decorative fixture with a plastic body and no metal path runs hotter and ages faster.

Iron Carries the Load

Suspension brackets, canopies and mounting plates are iron. Iron is stiffer than aluminium at the same section, so the parts that take the hanging load are iron while the parts that carry heat and take the finish are aluminium.

The Finish Sits on the Aluminium

Sand black, matt white, matt gold, rose gold and chrome are all applied to the aluminium body. This is why we ask buyers to order matching pieces together: the spray batch, not the model code, is what makes two painted fixtures match.

Weight Tells You What Is Inside

We publish product weight on most models for this reason. A 900 x 900 mm ceiling fixture at 2 kg is an aluminium and iron build. The same size at half that weight is mostly plastic.
