What the Insulator Hood Does

The insulator hood is the moulded pad on the underside of the bonnet. It damps engine noise, shields the paint from engine-bay heat, and on many models plays a role in slowing flame spread.

Original pads degrade visibly — sagging, crumbling, oil-soaked — on cars past eight to ten years, and owners replace them for both appearance and function. It is a light, flat, unbreakable part: freight-friendly, no glass risk, dense carton packing. That profile makes it an ideal margin line to add to lamp and bumper orders.

Fitting Notes

Pads mount on the original plastic rivet clips; replacement clips should be quoted with the pads at roughly ten clips per hood.

Check the bonnet frame for oil contamination before fitting — a soaked frame shortens the life of the new pad, and the customer will blame the pad.
