British cord sets use the BS 1363 three rectangular pin plug with an integral cartridge fuse. The fuse is part of the safety design, not an accessory, and it has to be rated for the appliance it protects, which is why 3 A, 5 A and 13 A fuses are all in regular use.

How It Is Made
The plug is moulded directly onto the cable on our own tooling, so there is no screw joint and no field wiring. The company runs first class producing equipment and advanced mould processing equipment, and quality control is applied at each stage rather than only at the end.
We mould BS 1363 plugs to BSI approval on H05VV-F equivalent cable and finish the appliance end with an IEC connector, a moulded socket or prepared leads. Fuse rating, cable gauge and cord length are all set per order.

Questions About UK Power Cords
Which fuse rating do I need?
It follows the appliance load. Small electronics normally use 3 A, medium loads 5 A and high current appliances 13 A. Tell us the rating and we will fit it.
Are the plugs moulded or rewireable?
We supply moulded, non-rewireable BS 1363 plugs for cord sets. That construction is the standard for factory fitted appliance leads.
Do you also make UK extension leads?
Yes. Four and five gang extension leads and UK power strips are made in the same plant.
Is the same plug used in Ireland?
Ireland uses the same BS 1363 plug pattern, so a single cord set covers both markets.
