What Service Access Actually Means
Service access is the side of the screen a technician works from when replacing a module, receiving card or power supply. Rear service requires access from behind the wall. Front service allows the module to be released and pulled from the viewing side. The choice affects the required depth behind the screen and must be confirmed before fabrication.
When Front Service Is the Only Option
If the screen is mounted flat against a wall, fascia, lift shaft or cyclorama with no space behind, rear service is not possible. When Rear Service Is the Better Buy
Where the screen is installed on a freestanding steel frame with walkable space behind, rear service cabinets are typically more cost-effective per square metre. The Block Indoor Series, Block Series outdoor cabinets, and Transparent Glass LED Screen are designed for rear service and are commonly accessed from inside the building behind glazing.
Rental Cabinets Are a Separate Case
Rental cabinets must support both front and rear access. The MASTARLED rental series allow tool-free installation and maintenance from either side, which is essential for touring crews operating in venues with unpredictable access conditions.
The Cost That Is Easy to Miss
A front service cabinet usually costs more per square metre than the equivalent rear service cabinet. However, the real cost is the space required behind the screen. In buildings where depth is limited or expensive, front service avoids the need for a maintenance corridor, which can be more costly than the cabinet premium.
How to Decide Before You Order
