Solar Water Pumping Systems
From the array on the ground to the water in the tank, specified as one system rather than a box on a wall.
How KEVAN Works Through It
1. Duty Point First
Head, flow and daily water demand decide the pump. Everything downstream - drive rating, array size, cable - follows from that, not the other way round.
2. Pump and Motor Type
PMSM, asynchronous and BLDC pumps are all supported by the SV13 and SV20, so the pump can be chosen on hydraulics. Confirm phase and voltage: single-phase 220V, three-phase 220V or three-phase 380V.
3. Drive Selection
SV13 for 0.4-22kW compact installations, SV20 where grid-adaptive behaviour, light detection and sub-10ms switching are needed, KV500 where only single-phase 220V exists and the pump is three-phase 380V.
4. Array Sizing and MPPT
The drive tracks the maximum power point, but it cannot invent power. Size the array for the pump duty point across the working day, with headroom for low-light hours.
5. Hybrid Backup
Where supply must continue after sunset, wire the AC source - grid or diesel - so the drive can switch into hybrid mode rather than stopping.
6. Protection and Sensors
Connect the low water probe and tank-full input at installation. Dry-run, overload, over-voltage and low-frequency protections all need to be commissioned, not left at default.
7. Monitoring
GPRS modules give mobile app status on SV13 and SV20; RS485 Modbus RTU on the KV500 feeds an existing SCADA or irrigation controller.
8. Commissioning and Handover
Test dry-run tripping deliberately on an empty pipe, record parameters, and leave the operator with the settings that matter - start threshold, stop frequency and source switching.
