Suspension Insulators
Porcelain suspension insulators for overhead transmission and distribution lines and substations, built to ANSI, GB, BS, DIN, AS and IEC standard designs. Supports system voltages up to 500kV AC and 400kV DC. Designed for standard and non-standard applications with engineering support available.
Products in This Family
Problems This Family Solves
- Mismatched coupling types prevent direct replacement on existing towers
- Polymer insulators degrade under long-term UV exposure and cannot be visually inspected for internal damage
- Insufficient leakage distance leads to flashover in polluted or coastal environments
- Lack of mechanical proof testing on delivery raises risk of string failure under load
- Standard insulators do not meet unique site or design requirements without redesign
Who Specifies These
- Utility procurement engineers specifying insulators for new or upgraded transmission lines
- EPC contractors requiring insulators that match existing tower hardware and design standards
- Transmission and distribution line contractors installing suspension strings on site
- Substation builders needing insulators for indoor and outdoor high-voltage applications
- Electrical wholesalers supplying insulators to regional contractors and maintenance teams
Where They Are Used
- Suspension strings on overhead transmission lines where mechanical strength and pollution resistance are critical
- Tension and dead-end strings at line terminations or directional changes requiring high mechanical load capacity
- Coastal or industrial corridor lines where salt or dust accumulation demands extended leakage distance
- Reconstruction projects where existing clevis and tongue hardware must be reused
- Substation installations requiring insulators rated for up to 500kV AC and 400kV DC system voltages
What You Get With Huahao
- Clevis and tongue coupling enables direct fit without additional security clips
- 320mm leakage distance per disc supports design for polluted and coastal environments
- Routine proof test at 7,500 pounds (33.5kN) confirms mechanical integrity before shipment
- Combined mechanical and electrical strength of 15,000 pounds (67kN) provides a 2:1 safety margin over the maximum working load
- Engineers available to develop non-standard insulator designs for unique application needs
- Complies with ANSI, GB, BS, DIN, AS and IEC standard designs for international compatibility

Suspension Insulators FAQ
What is the mechanical rating of the insulator
The combined mechanical and electrical strength is 15,000 pounds (67kN). The maximum working load is 7,500 pounds (33.5kN), and every unit is routine proof tested at that load.
How many discs are needed for my voltage level
String length depends on the system voltage, pollution level, and insulation coordination. Each disc adds 146mm of spacing and 320mm of leakage. Send us the voltage and site conditions and we will assist with the design.
Can you supply a different coupling type
We build to ANSI, GB, BS, DIN, AS and IEC standard designs. Email us the coupling class you require and we will confirm availability.
What certification do you hold
Our manufacturing facilities are certified to ISO 9001:2008. We do not claim any other certification. If your project requires a specific test report, contact us before placing an order.
What is your minimum order quantity
MOQ depends on the ANSI class and glaze colour. Email us the class and quantity you need and we will confirm.
Can you design a non-standard insulator
Yes. We design insulators for specific non-standard applications and our engineers are available to assist with custom development.
Which countries do you supply
Customers in more than 40 countries use our insulators, including America, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Russia, Greece, Cyprus, India, Viet Nam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Tanzania and Kenya.
