Line Post Insulators

A porcelain line post insulator to ANSI 57-2 with a fixed mounting base, used to support overhead conductors at substations, distribution poles, and terminal structures. The insulator provides mechanical cantilever strength and electrical insulation in a rigid, non-flexing configuration. Designed for 35kV AC system voltage with a dry flashover rating of 110kV and wet flashover of 85kV. The 559mm leakage distance supports pollution-resistant performance in coastal and industrial environments.

Why It Exists

Problems This Family Solves

  • Existing line post insulators fail under sustained mechanical load due to low cantilever strength
  • Conductors at substation terminals require rigid support that cannot flex under wind or ice loading
  • Polluted or coastal environments degrade polymer insulators through tracking and erosion
  • Non-standard mounting or conductor offset requires a custom insulator not available in standard stock
  • Lack of routine proof testing on mechanical load leads to field failures in high-stress applications
Buyers

Who Specifies These

  • Utility procurement engineers specifying insulators for substation terminal structures
  • EPC contractors building distribution substations with fixed conductor routing
  • Transmission and distribution line contractors installing terminal poles with rigid support
  • Substation builders requiring insulators for fixed conductor positions at switchgear or busbars
  • Electrical wholesalers supplying line posts for ANSI standard markets

Where They Are Used

  • Substation terminal structures where conductors must be rigidly supported at fixed angles
  • Distribution pole terminals with fixed conductor routing and no flexibility allowed
  • Coastal or industrial zones where salt or dust accumulation demands high leakage distance
  • New substation builds requiring ANSI 57-2 compliant insulators for switchgear connections
  • Replacements for failed insulators where the original mounting geometry is non-standard
Advantages

What You Get With Huahao

  • Cantilever strength of 2,800 pounds (12.5kN) supports conductors at fixed mounting points
  • Routine proof test at 1,000 pounds (5kN) verifies mechanical integrity of every unit before shipment
  • 559mm leakage distance per unit supports design for polluted and coastal environments
  • Dry flashover voltage of 110kV and wet flashover of 85kV meet ANSI 57-2 electrical requirements
  • Porcelain dielectric does not degrade under long-term UV exposure or corona discharge
  • Engineers available to develop non-standard designs for specific mounting or conductor offset needs

Line Post Insulators FAQ

What is the mechanical rating of the ANSI 57-2 line post insulator

The cantilever strength is 2,800 pounds (12.5kN). Every unit is routine proof tested at 1,000 pounds (5kN) before shipment.

What system voltage is this insulator rated for

The type application voltage is 35kV AC. This insulator is designed for 35kV AC systems.

Can you supply a non-standard version for my mounting geometry

Yes. We design insulators for specific non-standard applications and our engineers are available to assist with custom development.

What certification do you hold

Our manufacturing facilities are certified to ISO 9001:2008. We do not claim any other certification on this page.

What is the minimum order quantity

MOQ depends on the ANSI class and glaze colour. Email us with the class and quantity and we will confirm.

What is the leakage distance and why does it matter

The leakage distance is 22 inches (559mm). This length helps prevent flashover in polluted or coastal environments by increasing the surface path for leakage current.

Which markets do you supply

Customers in more than 40 countries use our insulators, including America, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Russia, Greece, Cyprus, India, Viet Nam, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Tanzania and Kenya.
