What This Method Covers
Adding amino acid powder to a water-soluble NPK or micronutrient blend brings organic nitrogen and free amino acids into a product the distributor already sells. The inclusion rate normally sits between 3 and 10% of finished blend weight. Because the powder is free flowing and fully soluble, it blends without a separate dissolving step and does not reduce the solubility of the finished product.
Step By Step
Set the inclusion rate
3 to 8% of finished blend weight for Amino Acids 35, and 5 to 10% for Amino Acids 45 where a higher free amino acid claim is wanted.
Account for the organic matter
The 35 grade carries ≥ 35% organic matter and the 45 grade ≥ 60%, which changes the bulk density and the look of the finished blend.
Blend dry, then test dissolution
Dry blend to homogeneity, then dissolve a sample at field concentration and check for undissolved fines or separation.
Confirm the label claim against the COA
Use the batch COA figures rather than the specification minimums when a nitrogen or amino acid claim goes on the label.
Fix the packaging and shelf life
Keep the finished blend in a moisture barrier; the powders are hygroscopic and the input specification allows up to 5% moisture.
