Why Lamps Are Specified as a Range

A nominal 12V system sits near 14V with the engine running and can dip well below 10V during cranking. A 24V system behaves the same way one step up. A lamp specified as 9-32V DC covers both states on both systems, which is why that window appears across most of the Dantech outdoor range.

Where Wider Windows Are Needed

Battery electric material handling trucks and some industrial machines run at 48V, 80V or higher. Signal and safety lamps for those applications are listed with wider windows such as 9-80V and 9-110V DC so one part covers a mixed fleet without a step-down converter.

Wiring Practice That Protects the Driver

Fuse each lamp circuit at the source rather than relying on a shared feed. Use a relay when switching several lamps from a cab switch so the switch contacts are not carrying the full load. Keep the earth return to a clean chassis point; a poor earth shows up as flicker and is often misread as a failing lamp.

Protection Features to Look For

Over-voltage protection deals with alternator spikes and jump starts. Over-temperature protection deals with sustained heat. Both are listed as features on the Dantech outdoor housings, and both are the difference between a lamp that survives a rough electrical system and one that does not.
