Specifying A Twelve-Table Pool Hall From Scratch
An application note, not a client project. It walks through the equipment decisions a commercial room faces once the tables are installed and everything a player touches is still to be bought.
The Challenge
Twelve American pool tables, casual public play seven days a week, and an equipment list that has to survive a year of it.
Customer Pain Points

What Was Specified
Start from the table standard and work outwards: 57.2 mm ball sets with individual cue balls held as spares, one house tip diameter fixed across the whole rack with tips ordered in 50-piece packs, a dedicated three-section break cue per table, and chalk bought in the largest box quantity the range publishes rather than in retail singles.
The Result
Every consumable in the room can be reordered against a published product page a year later, and the break shot stops being paid for by the playing cues.

The Order The Decisions Get Made In
Confirm the table standard
Equipment bought before the standard is confirmed is equipment bought twice.
American pool tables take 57.2 mm balls, which fixes the ball family and the cue ball spares in one decision.
Fix the house tip diameter
Mixed diameters make every maintenance session slower and more wasteful.
One diameter chosen against the ferrules in the rack, then tips ordered by the fifty against that number.
Separate the break
Players break with whatever is in their hand.
One three-section jump and break cue held per table, visually distinct from the playing rack.
Scale the consumables
Chalk runs out mid-season and gets replaced locally with something different.
Chalk ordered in the published bulk box quantities, sized against the room's own table hours.
Write the reorder list
A room that reorders by description gets drift.
