How To Choose A Conference Speakerphone
Match the microphone array to the table, then check the power budget
Start With The Table, Not The Room
Microphone count should follow seating distance. Our portable unit uses two omnidirectional microphones and picks up voices about 3 to 5 metres away. The USB and USB/Bluetooth units use four noise-cancelling omnidirectional microphones covering 360 degrees within 5 metres. The premium unit uses six and reaches about 6 metres. Specifying six microphones for a two-person desk wastes money; specifying two for a boardroom wastes the meeting.

The premium unit's 10 W full range driver is stated as two to three times the output of comparable speakerphones on the market. In a room with air conditioning running, that difference is the difference between hearing the far end and guessing at it.
DSP Is Not Optional
Every model runs advanced DSP for noise reduction and echo elimination. Without echo cancellation, an open speaker and an open microphone in the same enclosure feed back into the call. This is the part of the specification that cannot be added later with an accessory.
Connection Standards In A Mixed Estate
The USB and Bluetooth unit offers three connection routes on one device: Bluetooth, a USB Bluetooth dongle and a Type-C cable. In an estate where some rooms have docked laptops, some have fixed PCs and some rely on phones, three routes on one part number keeps the deployment to a single SKU.
Battery Or Bus Power
For fixed meeting rooms, a bus-powered USB unit never needs charging and never goes flat mid-meeting. For travel and hot desking, choose the battery models: 2,000 mAh on the portable unit, 2,500 mAh for four to six hours on the USB and Bluetooth unit, and 4,000 mAh for up to twelve hours on the premium unit.
