Buying Guide
How to Verify Genuine SGZ Plate
SGZ has warned its market repeatedly about counterfeit plate, fake websites and trading companies claiming to be its agents. Those warnings are on the record with dates. Here are the four checks that follow from them.
Check one: the email address
In September 2014 SGZ stated that it uses only two company email addresses, [email protected] and [email protected], and that any other address, especially one that looks similar, is not the company. That statement has not changed.
Check two: the website address
In August 2019 SGZ warned that www.sgzzincplate.com is not an official SGZ website and that buyers should be careful not to lose money there. The official domain is sgzmetal.com.
Check three: no agents
In March 2011 SGZ announced that some trading companies were claiming to be its exclusive agents, that SGZ had never authorised any person or company as a marketing agent, and that it would pursue the matter legally if it continued. SGZ sells direct.
Check four: the package
SGZ ships in an inner carton inside an outer wood pallet or wood case, and states that SGZ is the label on the package. On its coated zinc plate specification SGZ also warns that fake and second-hand defective plate circulates in the market and asks buyers to order direct.
What to do if something looks wrong
Write to [email protected] before you pay. If a supplier is genuine, confirming the order with the factory costs nothing. If it is not, that email is the cheapest check you will ever make.
