How to Size a Dog Harness for a Retail Range

Measure The Chest Not The Breed

Breed name is the least reliable way to size a harness. Two dogs of the same breed can differ by ten centimetres around the chest. Every harness in our range publishes a chest measurement and, where the style needs it, a neck measurement. Those two numbers are what a returns-safe listing needs.

Measure the chest girth at the widest point behind the front legs
Measure the neck where a collar would sit, not at the base of the skull
Where the animal falls between two sizes, take the larger one
Check the pet weight range on the size chart as a sanity check, not as the primary number

Vest Style Or Strap Style

The two constructions solve different problems and a fixture usually needs both. A breathable mesh vest spreads load over a wider area, which suits small dogs and flat faced breeds. A strap harness adjusts across more points, which suits a dog whose shape sits between sizes.

The Hardware Decides The Complaint

Buyers rarely return a harness because of the fabric. They return it because a buckle cracked or a D ring rusted. Hardware on our items is checked on a salt-spraying tester before shipment.
