Stage By Stage
Each stage below is a place where this kind of programme usually goes wrong, and what we do about it.
Application
The problem. A part is chosen from a catalogue picture and turns out to be wrong for the installation.
How we handle it. We start from the job, not the part. Run length, conduit condition, breaker range, mounting height and local practice change the answer.
Selection
The problem. Similar-looking products behave differently in service, and a photo does not show it.
How we handle it. Each product page sets out who it is for, what it solves, and how it compares with the alternative in the same range, so the comparison is on the page rather than in an email thread.
Confirmation
The problem. Specifications get repeated from listing to listing until nobody knows the original source.
How we handle it. Where a figure comes from the product documentation we state it. Where it does not exist, we say it is confirmed on enquiry instead of inventing a number.
Sampling
The problem. The specification is right but the product does not suit the installer's hand or the local method.
How we handle it. Samples settle it. For tools especially, one crew trying a tape decides more than a datasheet.
Documentation
The problem. The buyer needs dimensions and photos to build a listing or answer their own customer.
How we handle it. We supply the product details and images for the items you are listing.
Lines Most Often Involved
Specification And Selection Support Questions
Will you tell us if a product is not right for our application?
Yes. It costs us less to lose one line than to take back a container. If the answer is a product we do not make, we will say that too.
Some specifications are not listed on the product pages. Why?
Because we only publish figures we can stand behind from the product documentation. Anything else is confirmed on enquiry rather than guessed at on a web page.
Can you help us match an item we already buy elsewhere?
Send the dimensions, ratings and a photograph, and we will tell you whether something in our range matches or whether it would be a custom run.
Specification And Selection Support
Send us the detail and we will tell you what is realistic before you commit to anything.
