Check The Base Before The Mesh

Nylon and PP bases fail at the arm roots, usually after being dragged across a doorway threshold. Inspect base arms every six months. A cracked base is the single most common cause of a chair being scrapped while the mesh is still fine.

Casters Collect What The Floor Loses

Hair and carpet fibre wind around caster axles and eventually stop them turning, which transfers the load to the base. Clearing casters twice a year is the cheapest maintenance in an office.

Gas Lift Drift

A cylinder that sinks under load is at end of life and should be replaced rather than adjusted. Keep the gas lift class recorded from the original specification sheet so the replacement matches.

Cleaning Mesh Without Damaging Tension

Vacuum with a soft brush head and clean with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid solvent cleaners and avoid saturating the mesh, which stretches the weave and leaves a permanent sag.

Keeping Spare Parts On Hand

For a large installation, hold a small stock of casters, gas lifts and armrests from the original order. Because our plastic and hardware parts are made in house, replacement parts can be produced to the original specification later.
