A sliding bar carries a slider that moves up and down, so the handset height is adjustable. A shower rail is a fixed format wall kit, cheaper and simpler, with the handset held at a set position. We make 23 sliding bar models in the L series and seven shower rail models in the R series.

When A Sliding Bar Is Worth The Money

The Failure Modes Are Different

A bar fails at the slider. If the clamp loses grip the handset drops under its own weight, and that is the complaint that gets reported. A rail has no slider to fail, so its failure mode moves to the wall fixing and to the holder geometry. When you sample either one, load it with the handset you will actually sell rather than judging it empty.

Both Are Really Sold As Kits

In practice neither product is bought alone. Both ship with a handset, a hose and often a bracket. We make all of those parts and both assembling and packing are in-house operations here, so a finished kit is a normal order and the chrome matches across it because everything is plated on one line.

Replacement Work Needs The Old Holes

For refurbishment the wall already has holes in it. Send the existing fixing centres with the enquiry and we will tell you which models cover them. That one piece of information saves the installer re-drilling tile on every unit.

A Simple Way To Decide

If adjustability is a feature you are selling, specify a bar. If the shelf price is the feature, specify a rail. If you are replacing something, match what is on the wall. Then let us quote the whole kit rather than the bar or the rail on its own.
