What We Make
Chrome Spheres Grey Spheres and the Kits That Carry Them
Chrome Balls
Highly polished stainless steel spheres that collect the whole environment around the subject into one reflection. The surface passes more than 20 treatment processes so the reflection is not distorted.
Grey Balls
Reference spheres finished with 50% grey paint at 18% reflectivity, the exposure anchor post production works from when a CG element has to sit in the plate.
Kits and Handles
Two ball kits ship in a hard case with carbon fibre handles, polar fleece bags and a colour check chart. Single balls ship with a stretch or telescopic handle.

Reference Is Where CG Integration Is Won or Lost
Guessed Lighting Never Matches
A CG element lit from an environment nobody measured always reads as an addition. A polished chrome sphere records the real light at the subject position so the element is lit by the same sources as the plate.
Unknown Grey Is Worse Than No Grey
Grey surfaces with unknown reflectivity push the whole grade in the wrong direction. Every grey ball we make uses 50% grey paint at 18% reflectivity.
Distorted Mirrors Corrupt the HDRI
A sphere that is not finished properly bends the reflected environment. More than 20 surface processes are used on each ball to maintain specular reflection.
Kits Fall Apart Between Locations
Loose balls, handles and charts get separated on a move. The 12.6cm kits travel as one hard case with a fleece bag for each sphere.

What does VFX Ball make
We make chrome balls and grey balls used as lighting reference in film, television and photography post production, in diameters of 6cm, 12.6cm, 20cm, 25cm and 30cm.
Do the balls include a tripod
No. Tripods are not included with any product. Balls are supplied with handles and use 1/4 UNC or 3/8 UNC threads that fit standard camera and tripod fittings.
How long does dispatch take
We ship as soon as the product is ready. In the worst case we ask for up to 15 days for dispatch. The 10 inch balls are held in stock and ship in 7 to 8 days.
Is shipping included
Economy shipping by FedEx, DHL or a similar service is included in the price, and a tracking number is provided once the order is dispatched.
