Power Generation and Steam Systems
Steam headers combine high temperature, vibration and valves large enough that the actuator needs help holding position.
Large-bore valves
Above Dg 100 mm the positioner is used to increase the output thrust of the actuator — the documented reason for fitting one on a big regulating valve.
Vibration
The YT-1000 range shows no resonance from 5 to 200 Hz; the NE700 uses a low-mass, balanced force coil and rigid mounting for severely vibrating service.
Temperature
Positioners run -20 to +70 °C, and the actuator is available in a high-temperature build rated -20 to +160 °C.
Split range
Two valves on one loop, one taking 4–12 mA and the other 12–20 mA, is a standard arrangement for these positioners.
