Choosing a Thermostat for Underfloor Heating

Slow the cycle rate first

The single most important setting on an underfloor thermostat is switching sensitivity. Our 230V models expose it directly, which is what allows the same product to serve a fast radiator and a slow screed.

Floor temperature, not just room temperature

Many floor coverings carry a maximum surface temperature. ST23 and ST2403RF display room temperature, set temperature and floor temperature together, and we can preset a floor limit for the covering you are using.

Wet and electric systems need different contacts

A wet system switches a zone valve or actuator, which is comfortably inside a 6 A contact with 2 A inductive rating. An electric mat draws far more, so check the load against the thermostat rating and use a contactor above it.

Remote manifolds

Manifolds usually sit in a cupboard or riser away from the room. Our wireless models remove the cable, and C7RF controls up to four zones from a single unit.

Export mounting standards

The E3 range uses universal back plate holes suitable for mounting holes in various countries, which matters when one order ships to several markets.
