Installation Guide for Stone Bathtubs
Floor loading access route drain connection and protection during the rest of the fit out.
Before delivery
- Confirm floor loading with a structural engineer. A tub is 750 to 850 kilograms empty and water adds 200 to 300 kilograms more.
- Measure the route from the street to the bathroom including door widths corners lift size and lift capacity.
- Decide whether the crate can be opened outside the building or has to travel intact.
- Arrange the lifting equipment. Four people cannot carry a stone tub safely.
Positioning
- Set the tub on a level base. Stone will not flex to hide an uneven floor.
- Bring the waste connection to the carved drain position rather than adjusting the tub.
- Check the fall to the waste before the tub is set down for the last time.
After installation
- Seal the stone according to the material. Sandstone travertine and limestone need it most.
- Protect the tub with board and film until the rest of the fit out is finished.
- Keep grout cement and acidic cleaning products off the surface during construction.
Handover
Give the owner or the housekeeping team the maintenance sheet. Most damage to stone tubs happens in the first month from construction traffic and from the wrong cleaning product.
