Writing Steel Coil Buying Guide For Board Manufacturers
If you laminate your own boards, the coil decides how they will write in three years. These are the specifications that matter when you order it.
Colour and Surface Type
White coil comes in high glossy plain, white with a 5x5cm grid, and a matt surface for projection whiteboards. Green comes plain or with a 5x5cm grid. Black comes as a plain chalk writing surface. Choose the surface type before the gauge, because it is what the end user actually experiences.
Thickness
Coil is supplied from 0.16 to 0.6mm. The thinner end suits small office and children's boards where weight matters. The thicker end suits large classroom boards where a thin skin would ripple across the panel.
Paint System
Our coils are painted with KCC and NIPPON paint systems. The paint is what takes and releases chalk or marker ink, so a writing grade paint line is not the same thing as a general coil coating line.
Frames From The Same Supplier
We develop and produce aluminium frames and corners alongside the surface material. Buying both from one factory removes the tolerance gap you otherwise carry between a coil supplier and an extrusion supplier.
