Black Beats Green On The Street
White chalk on a black surface is the highest contrast hand written signage available, which is why most pavement boards are black. Green reads well indoors but loses definition under street lighting.

A wall hung board keeps the floor clear and suits a counter or a menu wall. An A frame catches passing trade from the pavement and folds flat to be brought in at closing.
Why The Surface Should Be Steel
Painted writing steel is magnetic, so a chalk board can also hold printed price cards and allergen notices. Chalkboard paint applied straight onto MDF cannot.
Frames For Hospitality
Wooden frames are used across the cafe range because an aluminium frame reads as office equipment in a hospitality interior. The trade off is that wooden framed boards should come indoors overnight.
