What Canvas Does Not Survive In A Kitchen
- Steam above a hob or a kettle line loosens the canvas on the stretcher over time.
- Airborne grease settles on the print surface and cannot be wiped off like glass.
- Direct heat from a range warps a wooden stretcher frame.
- Buyers order kitchen art at living-room sizes, and it overwhelms a small wall.

What We Recommend Instead
- Hang canvas in the eating area of a kitchen-diner, not on the cooking wall.
- Keep it at least a couple of metres from the hob and away from the kettle steam line.
- Use small formats: kitchen walls are broken up by units and rarely take a large piece.
- If the wall really is exposed, ask us before ordering and we will tell you honestly whether canvas is the right product.

Choose a small format
Kitchen walls are broken up by units, so the sizes are smaller than elsewhere.
Stretched build
Stretched pieces are easier to keep clear of splashes than a rolled canvas mounted later.
Care instructions with the order
Dust only, no wet wipes, no solvents.

Can canvas prints be hung in a kitchen?
In the eating area, yes. On the cooking wall, we do not recommend it: steam loosens the canvas over time and airborne grease cannot be wiped off the print.
How far from the hob is safe?
Keep it at least a couple of metres away and out of the kettle steam line. If in doubt, send us a photo of the wall and we will tell you.
What size suits a kitchen wall?
Smaller than elsewhere in the house. Most kitchen walls take 30 x 40 cm to 50 x 70 cm because units break up the available space.
