MOQ is counted per design per colour
Our minimum is 50 pcs per design per colour, or per pattern. That last part matters. A factory quoting 50 pieces is not offering you 50 pieces total across a range. Each design counts separately, and within a design each colour counts separately, because each one needs its own fabric buy, its own marker and its own line setup.
What that does to a first order
Three designs in one colour each is 150 pieces. One design in three colours is also 150 pieces. The first teaches you which silhouette sells. The second teaches you which colour sells. Most new brands learn more from the first structure, because silhouette drives the sale and colour usually follows it.
Why minimums exist at all
Below a certain quantity the fixed costs swamp the order. Pattern making, marker making, fabric minimums from the mill, line changeover and inspection all cost the same whether the run is 20 pieces or 200. A 50 piece minimum is roughly where those costs stop dominating the unit price.
How to plan the budget
Work backwards from sampling. Sample fee is US$35-150 per piece depending on complexity, and it is refunded against a bulk order over 100 pieces of that design. Budget for sampling two or three candidates, then bulk on the one that photographs and fits best.
The reorder is where low MOQ pays off
The real benefit is not the first order. It is that the pattern and fit block stay on file, so a reorder skips development and takes less production time than the first run.
