Motorcycle Glove Buying Guide For Retailers

How to build a glove wall that covers every rider in your market without tying up capital in dead stock.

Motorcycle Glove Buying Guide For Retailers

Four Patterns Cover Almost Everyone

A glove wall does not need thirty patterns. It needs four, in the right depth.

  • Short cuff full finger with hard knuckle armour. The volume seller in nearly every market, worn by commuters, naked bike riders and most weekend riders.
  • Long cuff racing gauntlet. Bought by sport riders and track day riders. Lower volume, higher ticket, and it makes the wall look serious.
  • Half finger. Summer, city and scooter riders, and the pattern that keeps riders wearing something when it is too hot for anything else.
  • Gel padded stretch. Light use and cycling crossover, and a useful low price entry point.

What The Protection Actually Does

Knuckle armour takes the first impact when a hand lands on tarmac. Palm reinforcement takes the abrasion when the hand slides. Finger reinforcement stops the seams opening. A glove with armour but no palm reinforcement is styling, not protection.

Fit is the other half. A glove that is too loose rotates on the hand during a slide and the protection ends up in the wrong place. Encourage customers to try both hands and to close their fist fully before buying.

Size Runs And Colours

Order a size run weighted to your market rather than a flat split. Most European and North American runs sell heaviest at L and XL. Most Southeast Asian runs sell heaviest at M and L.

On colour, black is the base. Red, blue and white sell as accent colourways and make photographs look better, but they should be a fraction of your depth. The Creease glove patterns are available in several colourways, so you can build a display without ordering four separate patterns.

Private Label

Gloves are one of the easier private label products because branding is applied to the cuff and the back of the hand rather than moulded into a tool. Printed and embroidered branding are both normal on this line. Send artwork, the pattern you want it on, and the quantity per colourway.

FAQ

Buying Guide FAQ

Are these gloves touchscreen compatible?
Selected patterns have conductive finger tips. Make it an explicit line in your enquiry and we will point you to the patterns that carry it.
Should I stock waterproof gloves?
Only if your market has a real wet season. Waterproof gloves are warmer and less tactile, and in a dry market they sit on the wall.
How do I reduce glove returns?
Publish the actual measured hand circumference for each size rather than only S to XXL, and photograph the glove on a hand rather than flat.
