Why This Comes Up

Most enquiries that reach us start the same way. A machine that has run for years stops, the engineer reads a type number off the glass or the nameplate, and the usual distributor replies that the type is obsolete. The question is no longer where to buy the original part but what can be supplied against that designation now.

  1. You send the designationThe type number exactly as it is printed, with any suffix letters, plus a photograph of the tube or the label if you have one. Suffix letters change the item. Reading them correctly at the start avoids a wrong shipment later.
  2. We check the designation against the catalogueThe number is checked against the type lists we publish and against the Chinese Russian and USA designations used for the same item. One switching tube or transmitting tube often appears under three different numbering systems.
  3. You get a written answerPrice availability and the data we hold for the type, by email, before any commitment. You can check the data against the circuit and your purchasing department has a document to work from.
  4. Accessories are addedSockets cap connectors chimneys and water jackets for the same type are quoted on the same offer. A tube that arrives without its socket cannot be fitted on the day it lands.
  5. Packing and dispatchEach item is packed so the envelope base and terminals are protected, and the outer packing is chosen for the freight method and the destination. Most damage to tubes happens in transit, not in service.

Send it anyway. The pages published here are the types we have listed, and other designations in the same families can often be quoted.

Will you substitute a different type without telling me?

No. If we cannot offer the designation you sent we say so, and any alternative is named as an alternative in the quotation.

How do I start?

Email the type designations and quantities to the sales address. Everything else follows from that one message.

Is there a minimum order?

No. Single pieces for repair work are normal orders, and repeat quantities can be scheduled separately.
