Packaging Lead Times and Order Planning

Sample in 3-5 days, bulk in 10-15 days, 100 to 1000 pieces per bag or box. How to plan an event date backwards from those numbers.

Plan Backwards From the Date

Most problems on a custom gift order are scheduling problems. The numbers that matter are short and specific: a sample in 3 to 5 days, bulk production in 10 to 15 days, and a quotation reply in around 2 hours during working hours.

Add your shipping time and your own internal approval time to those, and the latest safe order date becomes obvious.

What Happens Before the Clock Starts

Artwork redrawing is free and happens before tooling, but it still takes time and it needs your approval. If the artwork is not signed off, nothing downstream can start.

The single most common cause of a missed date is a proof sitting unapproved in somebody's inbox.

Sampling

A physical sample is produced free of charge in 3 to 5 days. This is where colour, plating, relief depth and the attachment are approved in the hand rather than on a screen.

It is also the point at which a change is cheap. A change after bulk has started is not.

Bulk Production and Packing

Bulk runs in 10 to 15 days once the sample is approved. Packing is normally 100 to 1000 pieces in one PP bag or small box, with special packing accepted on request.

If the goods need to be split by colour, by size or by recipient, say so at order stage. Sorting after packing costs time nobody has.

Quantity and Reorders

There is no fixed minimum order quantity, which changes how a launch can be planned: a small first run, then a top-up once demand is proven, rather than one large speculative order.

The approved sample is kept as the reference for reorders, so a repeat run matches the first one. For improper production the order is remade or refunded.

FAQ

Questions This Guide Gets Asked

How long from enquiry to delivered goods?

Allow 3-5 days for the sample, your approval time, then 10-15 days for bulk, plus shipping.

Can I skip the sample to save time?

You can, but the sample is free and it is where colour and finish are confirmed. Skipping it moves the risk onto the bulk run.

What is the minimum order quantity?

There is no fixed minimum.

How are goods packed?

Normally 100 to 1000 pieces in one PP bag or small box. Special packing requirements are accepted.

What happens if something is wrong with the goods?

For improper production the order is either refunded or remade.

Still Not Sure Which Route Fits

Send the artwork and the quantity. We will tell you which process suits it, and the first sample is free either way.
