Sintered NdFeB Process
From alloy to plated part — the flow Ando describes for sintered magnets.
Ando’s process page focuses on sintered NdFeB rather than bonded magnets. The published flow is:
- Ingredients and alloy preparation
- Smelting (ingot or strip / spinning belt)
- Powder milling
- Pressing and profiling in a magnetic field (this step locks orientation)
- Sintering and tempering
- Magnetic inspection
- Grinding and cutting
- Electroplating or other coating
- Finished part, then magnetization before shipment
Equipment named on the source page includes smelting furnaces, belt-spinning furnaces, jet mills, isostatic presses, sintering furnaces, gauss meters, centerless grinders and wire-cut machines. Orientation is set at the press — you cannot “fix” a wrong easy-axis after sintering without scrapping the part.
