Permanent Magnet Materials
What Ando actually ships, and how NdFeB sits next to ferrite, AlNiCo and SmCo.
Henan Ando Magnetics manufactures and sells sintered NdFeB magnets and magnetic assemblies. The knowledge pages on the original site also describe the wider permanent-magnet family so buyers can choose a material on purpose.
NdFeB (neodymium-iron-boron). Highest commercial energy product of the four families listed. Needs a coating because the sintered body is chemically active. Working temperature depends on the grade letter (N, M, H, SH and higher). This is the material behind Ando discs, blocks, rings, arcs, pots and hooks.
Ferrite. Ceramic magnets, lower cost, widely used where size is less critical.
AlNiCo. Castable, low reversible temperature coefficient, usable at very high temperature compared with NdFeB.
SmCo. Samarium-cobalt (SmCo5 and Sm2Co17). Better high-temperature behavior than standard NdFeB; more expensive.
If a print says “rare earth magnet” without a grade, ask the designer whether they mean NdFeB or SmCo before you buy either.
