Lost suction is usually a blocked filter
When a handheld vacuum feels weaker after a few weeks, the motor is rarely the cause. Fine dust has loaded the filter element and airflow has nowhere to go.
The routine
- Empty the dust cup after every session, not when it is full
- Tap the filter out over a bin to release loose dust
- Rinse the washable HEPA element in clean water
- Let it dry completely before refitting
- Refit it seated correctly so unfiltered air cannot bypass it
The mistake
Refitting a damp filter. Moisture holds dust against the media, airflow drops immediately and the smell that follows is the most common complaint in this product category. Drying time is not optional.
