ODM Development — Questions
What do you need before you can quote?
A reference model, the target market (professional or household) and your idea or modification. Without a clear product definition a quotation rarely moves a project forward.
When is the tooling cost decided?
Tooling starts in phase 03, after the working prototype, internal testing and DFM review in phase 02. The intention is that risk is controlled before tooling.
What happens at T1 and T2?
T1 samples are made from the new tooling and go through reliability tests such as drop, aging, salt spray and wear. T2 covers optimisation and the limit sample.
How big is the pilot run?
50 units, used for the assembly consistency check before mass production.
