Bulk and OPP Bag

The baseline for loose pieces is one piece per OPP bag, bundled and cartoned. It protects the finish from rubbing in transit and is the cheapest option per piece. It suits buyers who will repack, and buyers supplying hotels and canteens where presentation happens on the table rather than on a shelf.

Colour Box and Cardboard Box

A printed cardboard box is the standard retail format. A colour window box adds a die cut window so the pattern is visible without opening the pack. Both carry artwork, barcodes and language panels, which is what shelf ranges need.

Artwork should be supplied as print ready files with the enquiry so the box cost can be quoted alongside the cutlery.

Wooden Box

A wooden presentation box turns a 24 piece set into a gift article. It is the heaviest and most expensive of the common formats, and it changes the freight calculation as much as the unit price, so it is worth costing the full landed figure rather than the box alone.

Aluminium Case and Blister

An aluminium case gives a hard shell presentation with a lighter weight than wood. Blister packing seals a small count of pieces to a printed card and is used for promotional and impulse ranges rather than full sets.

Costing the Format

Three questions decide the format: does the pack have to sell itself on a shelf, does it have to survive courier handling, and what is the freight cost of the extra volume and weight. Answer those before selecting a box, because the answer often changes the set count as well.
