Reading Tags From a Safe Distance
The RBC-S18 stick reader lets you capture animal ID data without standing close to the animal. This reduces stress on sensitive animals and lowers the risk of injury during handling, especially in large herds or during routine checks.
How It Reads Low Frequency Tags
The RBC-S18 reads FDX-B and HDX format tags at 134.2 kHz, compliant with ISO 11784 and ISO 11785. It is designed for low frequency ear tags used in official identification and pet microchip scanning, ensuring reliable data capture at short range.
Display and Data Handling
The device features a high-brightness LCD screen (240x320) that remains readable in bright sunlight or dim indoor lighting. It stores up to 20,000 tag records internally and transfers data to a computer via USB cable or wireless connection for management.
When to Use This Reader
Use the RBC-S18 for individual animal checks at chutes, vaccination stations, or in clinics where a close read is needed. It is suitable for traceability, breeding records, and on-farm management where a handheld, simple-to-use device is required.
Limitations and Compatibility
The RBC-S18 only reads low frequency tags at 134.2 kHz. It cannot read UHF ear tags (860-960 MHz), implantable pet microchips with different protocols, or fixed readers. It must be used with tags that support FDX-B or HDX formats.
