Choosing A Mounting Bracket For An LED Light Bar
The bracket decides whether a light bar survives the first year, not the bar itself.
Three mounting families
The bracket range splits into light bar brackets, work light brackets and tube clamps. Bar brackets are vehicle and year specific - roof, hood, A-pillar and windscreen mounts. Tube clamps size to a roll bar or bull bar diameter instead.
Vehicle specific beats universal
A universal bracket has to be drilled into a panel or shimmed to sit level. A mount made for the model uses existing bolt points, which is the difference between a fitting a customer accepts and one they bring back.
Matching bar length to bracket
Roof brackets in the range are specified against a bar length - for example a 50 inch bar on a Wrangler JL roof. Order the bracket against the bar length, not the vehicle alone.
Vibration and re-torque
Any bolt-on lighting mount should be re-checked after the first few hundred kilometres. Clamp mounts on tube in particular settle into the coating and need a second torque pass.
