Electrolytic manganese metal flakes are elemental manganese plated from purified manganese salt. The published grade is Mn 99.7%. Flakes are irregular, brittle, bright on one face and rough on the other, silver-white to brown; powder is silver-grey.
Manganese raises hardness, strength, toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance in manganese-copper, manganese-aluminum and 200-series stainless alloys. After milling, electrolytic manganese is the main feed for manganese tetroxide used in electronic magnetic materials. The source page also lists iron and steel, non-ferrous metallurgy, electronics, chemicals, environmental, food-hygiene, electrode and aerospace uses driven by high purity and low residuals.

All figures from the source product page. The page notes the metal oxidizes in air, displaces hydrogen in dilute acid, and can decompose water above room temperature.
Where it is used
- Steelmaking and manganese alloys
- Manganese-copper and manganese-aluminum alloys; 200-series stainless
- Feedstock for manganese tetroxide (electronics magnetic materials) after powdering
- Non-ferrous metallurgy, chemicals, electrode and other high-purity Mn uses listed on the source page
Process notes
- High published purity (Mn 99.7%)
- Flake form — bright / rough faces, brittle
- Protect from moisture and acid; oxidizes in air
Questions buyers ask
Purity?
Mn 99.7% on the product page.
Why flakes instead of lumps?
This listing is electrolytic metal precipitated as flakes, not furnace-cast lumps. Packing is 1 MT big bags.
Handling?
The source description says the metal oxidizes in air and reacts with dilute acid. Keep dry.
