Incoming material check
Before production starts, raw materials are verified against the spec sheet. Cheaper-grade steel, thinner fabric and off-spec plastic pellets are the classic 3% cost saving that multiplies across 10,000 units.
During-production inspection
Scheduled at 15–20% completion. Corrections are still cheap, the line is still running, and the sample comes from the real production run rather than a polished pre-production unit.
Inline check
At 50–60% completion for high-volume repetitive manufacturing, this catches consistency drift — where the first batch was fine and the later ones are not.
Final random inspection
The standard AQL 2.5 or 1.0 check before loading. This is the last gate; if it fails, the batch is rejected rather than argued about.
Lab testing and certification
Third-party testing and compliance certification where the market or the product requires it.
Reporting
Photo and video reports at each stage, which is what you need when a claim surfaces months later.

Why inspect at 15–20% completion?
By final inspection the goods are already made. At 15–20% the factory can still correct the process, and you are seeing the production run rather than the pre-production sample.
What AQL level do you use?
AQL 2.5 or 1.0 for the final random inspection, agreed before production depending on the product and your tolerance for defects.
