Fibre content, care symbols, size and origin all live on a small piece of tape. Getting the layout right once saves reprinting every variant.
The Four Blocks
Most care labels carry four blocks of information: fibre content, care symbols, size and country of origin. Retailers and markets differ on order and wording, so treat the layout as buyer specific rather than universal.
Symbols Before Words
Care symbols travel across languages where words do not. Where words are required as well, keep them in the language of the destination market and keep the symbol row intact.
Substrate Decides Comfort
Satin and soft finished nylon taffeta sit comfortably at the neck. Cotton tape suits a natural product but takes ink differently, so small type needs checking before bulk.
Formats
End fold, centre fold, loop and straight cut formats change how much print area you actually have. Decide the format before finalising the artwork, not after.
Variant Control
Content, size and market combine into many small runs. Keep one master layout and change only the variable fields, so a content change does not force a redraw of everything.
