Color Matching & Shade Control
Inter-batch, end-to-end and side-to-center shade is the quality pain point we write about because buyers hit it.
The mill’s own article on color difference lists five types: inter-batch variation, intra-batch / end-to-end, side-to-center on wide tape, face-to-back, and storage yellowing. Causes named: yarn lot, dye-vat temperature and pH, weaving tension, finishing, and metamerism under D65 / TL84 / CWF.
How a program actually starts
- Seal a lab dip or salesman sample and write the ∆E window. The article cites typical ∆E ≤ 0.8–1.0 for light shades and ≤ 1.0–1.5 for dark.
- Name the light source you will inspect under.
- Keep yarn lots together when a program repeats.
- Ask for a strike-off before the bulk dye vat if the color is new.
