18650 Li-ion Battery

18650 li-ion battery size is fixed. The single cell can be assembled into different battery packs, such as 7.4V, 12V, 14.8V and more.

The 18650 can is 18.5mm across and 65.5mm long, and that never changes. What changes is how many go in series and how many in parallel, and that is what sets the voltage, the capacity and the current the pack can hold. A 3S20P gives 11.1V 40Ah. A 1S7P gives 3.7V 18Ah. A 4S1P gives 14.8V 2200mAh.

ICR18650 cells run at 3.7V nominal and charge to 4.2V, so they carry more energy per cell than LFP but a shorter cycle life, around 500 cycles. They are the right choice where run time and weight matter more than calendar life: tools, lighting, portable audio and e-bikes.

What is the cycle life of an 18650 lithium ion pack?

Around 500 cycles for the ICR18650 packs published here. If you need thousands of cycles, look at the LiFePO4 range instead.
