Insulated piercing connector 1.5-10 / 16-95mm2 for ABC cable is suitable for differnet combinations of aluminum or copper main and branch conductors.The piercing connector is primarily be used as an insulated tap off clamp with main conductor range from 16 mm2 copper to 95mm2 aluminum and branch line ranging between 1.5 to 10mm2 copper or aluminum cross sectional area.

Insulated Piercing Connector Function

1.The insulated piercing connector function shall be such as to provide for a perfect connection without the need of removing the insulation of the conductors.

2.Connection shall be achieved by a simple operation of a fully insulated tightening bolt without this tightening bolt coming into contact with live component. The screw head of the bolt shall shear off when the correct torque has been reached. Through such an arrangement the connectors shall be suitable, tested and guaranteed for installation on energized lines.

3.The insulation piercing connector body shall be made of a mechanically strong, weather resistant insulating material having also UV resistant characteristics. The fastening bolt and associated tightening nut shall be made of stainless steel and the tightening operation shall only require standard tools.

4.The connector shall be equipped with contact plates suitable for operation on both copper and aluminium conductors. The plates shall have suitably rated contact teeth that will penetrate the insulation and secure the desired connection once the ‘voltage free’ bolt is tightened. Both the main and branch conductor insulations are pierced by single bolt action.

5.The connector must have a self-aligning flexible sealing end cap for protection of branch cable.
