A Buyer's Guide to Glue Traps
Glue grade, carrier, size and packing — what to specify when you order glue traps by the container.
Glue traps look like a commodity and are not. Two boards of the same size can differ by a factor of two in holding power, service life and how they behave in a hot warehouse. Four things decide it.
1. The glue itself
Trap glue is the product. Kunda's own trap glue is made from natural minerals, is pesticide-free, holds for a stated service life of around six months and is rated water- and heat-resistant to 70°C. Those two numbers — service life and heat rating — are what separate a glue that survives a summer roof space from one that runs.
2. The carrier
Card carriers are cheap and disposable, and they warp in damp. Plastic trays hold their shape, stack, and can be placed in a station. Tubes and rolls exist because in a long greenhouse or a livestock building, replacing individual boards is the labour cost, not the board.
3. Size and target
Size is chosen by the animal, not the space. A mouse tray is not a rat tray; a cockroach monitor is a different product again from a fly ribbon. Ordering one size for a mixed site is how a programme ends up with a good catch rate on one species and none on another.
4. Packing
Glue traps ship by volume, not weight, so cartons and pack counts drive landed cost more than the unit price does. Ask for carton dimensions, pieces per carton and net and gross weight at the quotation stage — they are on the factory's own product data.
