What to Confirm Before a Used Truck Is Loaded for Export

Seven points to settle in writing before a container or ro ro booking is made.

Drive Side

Left hand and right hand drive units both appear in our stock and they are listed separately for a reason. Drive side cannot be changed economically after import so it is the first item to confirm in writing.

Engine and Gearbox Combination

Ask for the engine model and the gearbox model rather than the horsepower alone. A 371HP figure tells you less than knowing the unit runs a Weichai WD615 with an HW19710 ten speed gearbox because the second answer tells your workshop what it will be servicing.

Axle Rating and Ratio

Rear axle type and ratio decide how the truck behaves loaded. The Shacman mixer chassis we list states double reduction 16 ton HDS axles with a rated axle load of 16 tons each and a 5.73 ratio. That level of detail is what you want on any unit.

Cargo Body Dimensions and Plate Thickness

Confirm the box dimensions and the floor and side plate thickness. A 5600 by 2300 by 1500 millimetre body giving roughly 19.32 cubic metres is a very different truck from a 35 cubic metre mine body even under the same brand name.

Emission Standard

Confirm Euro II Euro III or higher against your destination registration rules before loading.

Condition and Reconditioning Work

Ask which parts were replaced during preparation. Our engineering team selects trucks on performance and carries out maintenance before sale using good quality replacement parts. Get that list in writing.

Parts Package

Decide what ships with the truck. Sending common wear items in the same consignment avoids the first breakdown becoming a multi week wait at a remote site.
