Split-Core Versus Moulded Current Transformers
Choose moulded when the board is new
Moulded-case CTs such as MSQ, CA/MES, DX, DM, MBO, ABO, SDH and DSC go onto a busbar or cable while the panel is built. They are the lower-cost choice when you can thread the conductor through the window.
Choose split-core when the feeder is already live
SCT, DBP, TP, LMZK, HK, IP65, FSCT and UK-ring split-core CTs open around the conductor. Use them for sub-metering and portable instruments when an outage is not available.
Outdoor and residual-current extras
IP65 and FSCT cover outdoor clips. ZCT and LSY residual-fire CTs are separate families for leakage and fire-monitor inputs.
